Fantastical Places

Fantastical Places

Have you ever been to that place that is just the most incredible, amazing and beautiful place you’ve ever seen? If you have, you know what I mean when I say you leave there refreshed, relaxed, amazed and full of that joie de vivre!

It’s where the moon sits pale and larger than life over glassy waters that lap very gently at your feet, and the air smells of sweet flowers. There is a mist, just beyond the closest trees, their leaves dripping with the remnants of the late evening drizzle and in the distance, tree frogs tell of their bliss. The temperature is a perfect mix of cool with undertones of an earthy warmth. The grey-blue sky waits for the moon’s glow to brighten.

There’s a tall rock standing in the water, a huge bird of the night sits there staring back at you, his head cocked to the right curiously. There is no fear, and you feel his energy reaching out to you as yours does to him. In the far distance the sound of a train making its way to some distant place can be heard. The large bird is flustered and opens his wings hesitantly, then takes flight. He passes above you and seems to be at least thirty feet across his wings, the air lifts your hair and soft silky clothing. He is gone.

The moon brightens and a waterfall behind you becomes louder as the frogs grow quiet. The mossy mound you sit on is comfortable and you wriggle your toes in the dirt, not caring about having to take another bath. It doesn’t matter here. A wolf howls and it brings pleasure to your heart as life spills over around you. Something moves and it’s a white horse, it’s munching on the lush grass and oblivious to your presence. It looks up as hundreds of fireflies go by like sparks from a magical wand, then disappear into the woods.

Night moves quickly, and the sun peeks from behind wispy clouds and rolling hills. Its light glints off the water and birds sing songs of praise and joy! It’s your own personal concert…life is good. The light gets brighter and brighter as you slowly open your eyes.

Yes. You have one of these places I’m sure, and if you don’t you should go create one right now! Escape into your fantastical mind sometimes, wander around the world that you feel most comfortable and at peace in. It’s amazing what you can find there!
